Student will receive instruction in the primary theories of group counseling, therapeutic techniques and skills for group counseling, the evolution of group process, techniques for confronting defense mechanisms, and termination of the group process. They will learn to identify the four stages of group development and describe the features of each (initial, transition, working, final) as well as, the counselor's tasks at each stage. The three styles of leadership will be identified and discussed.
