Motivational Interviewing / Motivational Enhancement Therapy
Course Description: Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a technique for counseling is designed to help the clinician/counselor work with clients that are: stuck in self-destructive behavioral patterns, resistant to treatment and change or to be used with clients who are mandated into treatment. The greatest challenge for clinician/counselors is to help clients transcend multiple barriers and be motivated to change their addictive behaviors and get their lives back on track.
This course is designed to challenge the participant's subjective beliefs about change and teach them to implement objective skills when working with clients' levels of motivation, resistance and willingness to make a lifelong commitment to change.
What makes people change and how people change involves numerous factors -- one such factor, motivation, is the emphasis for this course.
Course Length: 2-3 hours
