Course Description: This course will describe the impact of nicotine dependence on American Society. It will examine how to assess nicotine dependence. It will look at the issues related to addressing tobacco within substance abuse and mental health programs. It will outline various methods of treating nicotine dependence. It will examine the evidence for pharmacological interventions. Most of all, it will describe how to use motivational approaches to assist with clients who have addiction and/or mental illness problems and also use tobacco to quit.
